Why Work With LRC Indoor Testing & Research?

When you work with the professional team at LRC Indoor Testing & Research, you get the expertise of hard-working indoor environmentalists at a locally owned small business with more than 50 years of experience in industrial hygiene and other related fields. Our specialty work includes residential and commercial mold investigations where we perform thorough air surface sampling, fast sample analysis from our in-house lab, and easy-to-read results with effective remediation recommendations. We conduct investigations suitable for numerous conditions, including major water losses to acute health symptoms. Once our studies are complete, we work closely with reputable third-party companies who assess indoor fungal ecology before and/or after remediation.

Our team possesses extensive expertise in building science and mold spore identification using light microscopy. You can rest assured that we can provide maximum restoration to “normal fungal ecology” in impacted areas. Although we are located in Cary, NC, we routinely perform inspections within a 100-mile radius of our lab.

Mold Inspection and Testing

If you happen to run across the appearance of mold in your home, immediate action must be taken to prevent structural damage and any potential health threat. Mold is a natural occurrence outdoors but can also grow indoors when mold spores land on wet surfaces. Reactions to mold can result in allergic reactions, asthma attacks, and even more serious health threats if inhaled.

If you suspect mold growth or see visible mold in your home, our team at LRC Indoor Testing & Research can assess your indoor environmental quality through professional air and surface fungal sampling. Our experienced technicians will perform a thorough mold inspection, and you’ll receive a detailed report with sample results and remediation recommendations.

Asbestos Testing

When you sense an unidentified odor in your home, it’s always important to determine the source of the odor. Volatile organic compounds can occur in numerous settings and can include a variety of chemicals originating from paints, cleaning supplies, pesticides, building materials, and more that can cause short- and long-term adverse health effects. Exposure to VOCs can result in initial health symptoms such as dizziness, irritation, etc.

Another similar dangerous health threat is exposure to items containing asbestos. Many homes built before 1979 were constructed with insulation or other materials containing asbestos that later became known to cause serious health problems, including mesothelioma, lung cancer, and other cancers.

Our experts at LRC Indoor Testing & Research are certified to collect asbestos and VOC samples that are tested for hazardous components. We can provide you with interpreted results in a detailed report following testing. If dangerous VOCs or asbestos particles are present, we highly recommend you contact a professional team for remediation.

Crawlspace and Attic Investigations

If you have an attic or crawlspace, it is recommended that you have these inspected on a routine basis for water and mold issues. Assessments should also be conducted after a water loss, before/after any remediation, or if visible significant mold growth is noticed. Our crawlspace investigations include moisture measurements, visual observations, and surface sampling.

Air Quality Testing

Once any water or mold remediation takes place, we recommend an air quality testing be conducted, as well as if you are experiencing health symptoms and sensitivities or had a recent water loss. These tests should be completed by an independent industrial hygiene company that does not also provide remediation services. In evaluating indoor airborne fungal ecology, our technicians at LRC will take non-viable air samples from the home/building and assess by comparing the levels in the outdoor air or baseline samples.
